Who We Are

The Men of Note Chorus has a proud tradition of entertaining audiences going back to 1958. We bring excellence in entertainment to every performance with our extensive repertoire of jazz, barbershop, comedy, pop, patriotic, and Gospel songs -- love songs, funny songs, and sacred songs all find a place in our shows.

We present two shows for the public each year, one in late Spring and another in early December. In addition, we perform for many private functions at retirement homes, banquets, clubs, churches, and corporations. Our quartets provide Singing Valentines on Valentine's Day, possibly our favorite time of year. Sadly, we also sing at funerals of friends.

We really know how to have fun while working to polish our skills. We participate in a series of competitions every year, with professionally trained judges of the Barbershop Harmony Society, to measure our progress. Our collection of awards at competitions speaks for itself. Competitions take place all over our five-state district, and winners go to national competitions. But competition is only a small part of what we do. We search for the elusive perfect chord, the perfect combination of voices, the good friend, a good time singing just for the joy of it.

We provide a few scholarships for young men in music, provide mentoring and coaching for young quartets, and voice coaching for our members. We actively seek relationships with choir teachers in our area.

Listen to a sampling of our music. Visit us at a rehearsal. Come to a show. Let us perform at your next event. You'll be glad you did.

VISION STATEMENT
Our chapter is one which will touch the lives of many people by providing a positive total experience where an increasing number of men who love to sing can find expression and fellowship; one which will bring excellent, entertaining performances of quality music to an ever widening audience, and one which will be known for what we do and who we are by a community much broader than our barbershop structure.

The Men of Note are sponsored in part by a grant from the City of Plano.
