About Men of Note

Our goal in each performance is to create an experience for you that you will never forget.  If you haven't had a chance to experience us live yet, we encourage you to attend one of our upcoming performances. We typically have a show annually in the Spring, a patriotic show in the summer, and a Christmas show in December.

The Men of Note Chorus is officially named the Town North Plano Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

Our history spans more than half a century of musical harmony:

  • The Town North Plano Chapter was formed as the result of a merger of the Dallas Town North Chapter (founded October 30, 1958) and the Plano Chapter (founded January 1, 1982) – a merger that happened January 1, 1995.

  • After the merger occurred, the chapter met at the Highland Oaks Church of Christ, on 15th St in Plano.  In 2014, we moved to the Richardson East Church of Christ at 1504 E Campbell Rd, Richardson, 75081

  • We have been the home chapter of two International Presidents of the Barbershop Harmony Society.

  • We sponsored and helped launch the East Texas Chapter in Tyler, Texas.

  • We created and supported two very large and two smaller Youth In Harmony events in local school districts.

  • Membership of the Town North Plano Chapter has included nine Southwestern District (SWD) Presidents, Eleven SWD Barbershopper of the Year honorees, Ten SWD Hall of Fame honorees and, overall, our chapter has won 18 district chorus medals.

  • Members of our chapter have been part of several International Gold Medal Champion Quartets.

  • One of the most popular singing programs of the Barbershop Harmony Society, the Barberpole Cat program, was launched by our chapter in 1971.
