The Men of Note Chorus (a part of the Town North Plano Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society) is proud to announce its hiring of Daniel Rohovit as Musical Director and Mark Holdeman as Assistant Director, effective immediately. Dan and Mark’s first official rehearsal as Director and Assistant Director is on Monday, January 6th, and will be held within the chorus’s usual rehearsal room at CARE Church (formerly Richardson East Church of Christ) at 1504 E Campbell Rd, Richardson, TX 75081.

High praise and highly recommended

Daniel Rohovit, Men of Note’s new Musical Director, is also the High School Choir Director at Anna High School, in Anna, TX. He started there in 2016 as the first choir teacher in Anna Independent School District’s history.  He built the Anna High School choir program from the ground up, and he's already taken his students to the Barbershop Harmony Society’s (BHS) “Midwinter” Youth Chorus Festival two times.
In 2015, Dan served as the BHS Intern for the Society’s week-long Harmony University (HU) event, which is held on the campus of Belmont University in Nashville, TN. During this time, Dan became lovingly known around the Barbershop Harmony Society as “Dan the Intern”. Donny Rose -- Director of Music Education for the BHS, and Dean of Harmony University – has this to say about Dan: “Dan is a very talented musician, teacher, servant and barbershopper who has a bright future and will be a huge asset to any chorus he has the opportunity to grow and lead. Dan is a high energy yet kind leader who will transform any group in time!”
“Dan's innate kindness, enthusiasm, and musicality are sure to make a BIG impact on any group he stands in front of!” said Amy Rose, Social Media & Communication Manager of the Barbershop Harmony Society HQ in Nashville. “His easy, open approach will support a welcoming chapter culture and enhance the barbershop community that is already in place and ready to thrive.”  High praise, indeed.

Hall of Famer and Mentor

Mark Holdeman is the new Assistant Director of the Men of Note Chorus.  A member of the BHS since 1978, Mark has an impressive resume; he has been a Certified Director of the BHS since 2006, and has been in Director or Assistant Director roles almost constantly since 1980 within the Southwestern District (SWD) of the BHS in choruses across Oklahoma and Texas. He was the Barbershopper of the Year of the SWD in 2009, and was recently inducted into the SWD’s Hall of Fame in 2017. Mark has been a coach, a certified Singing Judge, a member of the SWD Board of Directors, and a faculty member of the SWD Harmony Ranch.
Most recently, Mark has been the Musical Director of the Big-D Chorus in Dallas, TX since 2017.  Big-D is the oldest barbershop chorus in the Dallas / Fort Worth Metroplex, having been founded in 1945.  Mark also stepped into the role of Interim Director of the Men of Note Chorus during the 2019 holiday season, and was instrumental in blending the Big-D Chorus with the Men of Note Chorus for joint performances of the two choruses.
